Nigerian Brothers Plead not guilty in Sextortion case

Nigerian brothers in court

Two Nigerian brothers have entered pleas of not guilty to charges against them in a case in which they stand accused of sexually extorting teens and young men online.

On Thursday, U.S. Attorney Mark Totten announced that Samuel Ogoshi, 22, and Samson Ogoshi, 20, pleaded not guilty after being formally advised of the charges against them during an arraignment.

While the brothers face similar charges, Samuel Ogoshi is charged with attempted sexual exploitation of a minor resulting in death, related to the March 2022 suicide of 17-year-old Jordan DeMay, of Marquette, Michigan.

A detention hearing has been scheduled for August 23.

Additionally, a third defendant, 19-year-old Ezekiel Ejehem Robert, awaits extradition to the United States.

The three men are alleged to have used fake social media accounts to pose as young women and thereby solicit teens and young men to send sexually explicit images of themselves.

The defendants would then apparently threaten to share collages of the images with the victim’s classmates, family members and friends on social media, unless payment was received.

It is further alleged that the defendants extorted or attempted to extort over 100 people, including Jordan DeMay, who was discovered deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on March 25, 2022.
