Marion Mildred Lesatz

Longtime Engadine resident, Marion Mildred Lesatz, 95, died Sunday morning June 9, 2024 at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital.

Born March 13, 1929 in Engadine, daughter of the late Louis and Emma (Marcus) Wagner, Marion was one of thirteen children.  Marion married Edward Lesatz on June 7, 1952 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

A resident of Detroit for 38 years, Marion was employed as a bearing inspector for Federal Mogul Bower Bearing for 25 years and later at Drill Nation until her retirement.

Marion moved back to Engadine in 1996 and was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Quilters guild and helping with various church events.  Marion loved spending vacations with her many nieces and nephews and loved to spoil them with yummy baked goods and desserts.  She was an excellent cook and always on the look-out for new recipes.  Marion always provided some treat when visiting friends.

Marion loved picking blueberries, blackberries and strawberries.  She and her siblings often packed a lunch and hightailed it to a berry patch often trying to out pick the other.  Marion was always the care giver. There when needed; providing siblings with support, driving them to appointments, and helping as needed. She can best be remembered for her love of “Wheel of Fortune”, polka music, and Daniel O’Donnell. We all knew not to call between the hours of 7:00-7:30pm because that was her time spent with Pat Sajak.

Bakeries were her special stops and Marion was the sparkle of the family.

In addition to her parents, Marion is preceded in death by her husband Edward on August 19, 2013; siblings Albert Wagner, Edward Wagner, Carl Wagner, Henry Wagner, Fred Wagner, Janette Beckwith, Ethel Henschel, Irma Lesatz, Arlene Hahn, Bertha Meisner, Alma Wagner and Martha Dyer.

Survivors several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Marion will take place Friday June 21, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Kyle Kuehl officiating.  Interment will take place at a later date at the Engadine Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in her loving memory.
