Judy Mildred Legault

Former Engadine resident, Judy Mildred Legault, 82, died Sunday evening, June 9, 2024 at the Ingham County Medical Care Facility in Okemos surrounded by family.  Judy was born May 11, 1942 in Auburn, Washington, daughter of the late Paul and Myrtle (Miller) Prosser.

Upon her mother’s passing in 1945, Judy and her two sisters moved to Iowa.  They lived with their family members until 1951, and then moved to Ferguson, Missouri.  Judy was a 1960 graduate of Ferguson High School.

After graduation, Judy relocated to Newberry and met Thomas R. Legault.  They married on October 28, 1961 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Naubinway.  Judy and Tom resided in the Engadine area where she was a devoted homemaker and they raised four children.

Judy was a member of St. Stephen’s and Engadine Catholic Missions where she sang in the choir.  She was a charter member of the Engadine Historical Society and enjoyed her time working with the museum.  Judy liked learning about genealogy.  She crafted many wonderful scrapbooks.  She also liked to read, garden her flower beds, play cards and Scrabble.

In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her husband Thomas on October 10, 2014, as well as sisters, Jackie Marie Moyle & Jerri Lee Mikkola, son Michael Edward Legault and son-in-law Michael Dean Bennett.

Survivors include her children Michelle Bennett of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jeffrey (Linda) Legault of Middleburg, Indiana, Lisa (Robert) Smith of Perry, Michigan and two granddaughters, four grandsons, 2 great grandsons and several in-laws and nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will take place Saturday June 22, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Naubinway.  A Memorial Mass celebrating the life of Judy will follow at 11:00 am at the church with Fr. Frank Ricca officiating.  Rite of Committal will take place at the Engadine Cemetery.
