Chicago Transit arrives right on time!

Chicago Transit

While they are not Chicago proper, they were definitely Chicago EPIC!

Known as the the world’s first and longest running Chicago tribute band, Chicago Transit features 5 singers, 4 of which are lead singers, the 3-piece horn section and the 5 piece rhythm section.

The eight-man tribute to one of the most popular musical groups of the 60’s, 70’s, and 80′ played to a packed house at the Sault Community Theatre Centre on Friday night. In twenty-five years, the band, based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada has performed their show in many venues including Festivals, Theatres, Casinos and others from as far east as the Gatineau Hills in Quebec to the USA Midwest – including Chicago, Illinois, itself.

Opening strong with the very apt “Only the Beginning”, Chicago Transit played for nearly two hours with only a slight intermission break. Sampling only some of the early tunes that the band is known for such as Saturday in the Park, If You Leave me Now and 25 or 6 to 4 along with many others, the combination of voice, instruments, including of course, horns, the sounds created by this mosaic of talent made for a more than enjoyable evening of hearing favourite songs played live.

The performance was sophisticated, on point, and each note demonstrating the excellence that can only come from love of the music, many hours on the road and playing together, as well as the implicit feeling that that there is nowhere else they wanted to be in that moment.
