1 dead, 1 injured after married couple collides with deer

A woman from Chippewa County has passed away following a motorcycle accident with a deer on M-134 close to Pretniss Bay Road in Mackinac County around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene after the crash, where they found the motorcycle had collided with a deer, ejecting the couple from the motorbike. The man riding the motorcycle suffered from a number of non-fatal injuries, while the woman was seriously hurt. Officers initiated emergency medical procedures, but unfortunately, the woman was declared deceased at the location due to her injuries.

According to the officers, the couple, who were married, were on their way back from a meal.

The incident was coordinated by various emergency services including Clark Township EMS, Fire, Detour Fire, The Sault Tribal Police, Kinross EMS, the Michigan Department of Traffic, Mackinac EMD, and the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office.

  1. When you ride a motorcycle you never know which ride could be your last as there are many things out of your control, wildlife is a big one, irresponsible daydreaming and careless drivers are right up there, too, they have zero consideration for motorcycles on the road.
    Some quit riding after life altering accidents like this one, real wake up calls which some continue not to heed.
    RIP dear lady, I hope your other half will count his blessings to still be alive and reconsider taking further chances on two wheels. Four wheels are dangerous enough with the crazy drivers on the road and abundant large species of wildlife that are continually driven out of the bush this time of year onto the roads and highways by the swarms of biting insects.
