YMCA Campaign Gets Big Boost

The Sault Ste. Marie YMCA is thrilled to announce that Algoma Steel has committed a generous lead gift of $50,000 per year, totalling $250,000, to support the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA’s $1.5 million capital campaign, “A Bridge to Our Future”.

This significant contribution marks the beginning of a transformative journey for the YMCA. This
multi-year campaign will be crucial for the YMCA to secure its sustainability and ensure it remains a
viable community resource for years to come.

The Sault Ste. Marie YMCA has reached a critical juncture in the history of their organization. Faced
with losing the YMCA, a groundswell of encouragement from the members of the community, along
with an investment by an unnamed charity organization, the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA has been afforded
the opportunity to secure its future. The YMCA is committed to raising $1.5 million so it can continue
to help the community of Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding area shine through essential programs and

care and summer camps to health and fitness programs, to upgrades in capital infrastructure,” said

and every donation helps us support local families, ensuring that everyone has access to the

In addition to their “A Bridge to Our Future” support, Algoma Steel has invested in the health and
wellness of their employees by offering a $10 discount off payroll deduction to any of their staff who
purchase a membership at the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA.
