In a news release the Sault Ste. Marie Bridge Authority has indicated that the trips between Michigan and Ontario over the St. Marys River have continued to increase suggesting that travellers are leaving behind the hesitations associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bridge operator’s noted an increase of 40% in the number of vehicles crossing the bridge between the two Saults in June as compared to the same month in 2022.
the International Bridge Administration said one-way crossings for the month totalled more than 92,000, revealing an increase of over 27,000 crossings than in June of last year.
Traffic for the calendar year-to-date is up nearly 90%, according to the bridge authorities in their monthly update.
As of the end of June, the Sault Ste. Marie Bridge Authority in a news release said that they recorded 411,200 crossings.
